A good diet for dairy cows is very important, because it determines the quantity and quality of milk. That is why the Nikolskaya Sloboda farming approached this process very reverently. Cows are fed with a mixture of barley, wheat, sunflower cake, beet pulp and brewer's grains are also added here.
Hay for cows is harvested by the farm on its own. The total cutting area is 400 hectares, where alfalfa, timothy grass, clover, as well as oats, peas and wheat are grown. For this, there is the necessary fleet of equipment: mowers, balers, etc.
Insemination is done naturally: Holstein cows are covered with an Ayrshire bull, which allows you to increase the fat content of milk, which is necessary for the production of quality cheeses. The average daily milk yield is 1200 liters of milk. In addition to various types of cheese, the farm produces a whole range of products from milk: kefir , yogurt, fermented baked milk, cottage cheese, butter , cream.
Since the farm is developing a tourist destination, the entertainment program provides for various activities: for adults - a master class in making mozzarella cheese, for children - a master class in making ricotta sweets. In addition, there is a tasting of products with a mandatory story about the features of the farm kitchen and the history of the village.
