Stavropol vegetable growers receive a good onion harvest

Vegetable crops are being harvested in the Stavropol Territory . The onions justified the efforts and costs: about 620 tons were harvested from 23 hectares, the average yield was 270 c/ha. In total, agricultural producers of the region have allocated more than 1,250 hectares for this crop this year, and harvesting continues.
In 2024 , onions are grown by agricultural producers in 15 districts of the region. The largest areas are allocated for this crop in the Ipatovsky, Izobilnensky and Trunovsky districts, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory said.
This year’s summer turned out to be favorable for onions: after May there was virtually no or minimal precipitation, and the weather was dry and hot. Everything worked out the way this vegetable needed. it is also important that the farmers of the Stavropol region have accumulated a wealth of experience in growing onions: they follow agricultural techniques, conduct soil diagnostics in the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center, based on the results of which they add the missing nutrients to maintain their balance.
“Our specialists help agricultural producers, farmers and private owners ensure the healthy development of onion plantings by conducting phytomonitoring and giving advice on the use of means of protection against diseases and pests and the application of fertilizers,” noted Olga Kuznetsova, HEAD of the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center.
Many farmers and owners of personal plots turn to the departments of the Stavropol branch of the Russian Agricultural Center to check the crop for diseases and pests before storing it in order to avoid spoilage of onions in the winter and not to infect the crop of vegetables that will be stored nearby.
