pionerprodukt.by visited the farm of Babken Ispiryan in the Kaluga region, in the village of Chemodanovo, as part of a large AgoraExpedition.
We are visiting the Babken farm for the third time. The specialization of the farm is the cultivation of blackcurrant for mechanical harvesting. Currant bears fruit for 7-8 years. The total area under the berry at the time of filming is about 120 hectares.
This year the farm is expecting the first commercial harvest. A trailed Polish-made berry harvester was purchased for harvesting. In that year, he passed the first field tests and proved to be excellent, so we are looking forward to the results of his work in the real conditions of harvesting Kaluga currants.
When we were on the farm, the currants had not yet blossomed, so harvesting will most likely begin only in the second half of July. Currant bushes are already cut mechanically. All trimmings lie in the aisle, where they will be crushed with a mulcher.
The Babken farm has its own nursery (shkolka), where about half a million blackcurrant cuttings are grown annually, some of which are sold, and some are used to increase their own areas.
The farm is also engaged in the cultivation of cereals, in particular, winter wheat, in addition, this year for the first time about 150 hectares of oil flax were sown, which was purchased from our friends - the KVN-Agro company. I would like to note that it was our portal that became the link between farms. And this is far from the first story of the collaboration of our farmers, and we are always pleased when the participants build their network of partner contacts through pionerprodukt.by.
During the filming, it became a discovery for us that feed for growing fish is made using products obtained from oil flax. And in the light of recent events, the business of growing flax with the further production of compound feed has good prospects.
