Belarus and Pakistan have agreed to increase trade in agricultural products on a mutual basis. This was discussed at the meeting of Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich with the Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research of Pakistan, Sahibzada Muhammad Mehbub Sultan, informed BelTA in the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

The parties noted the steady growth of mutual supplies of agricultural products between Belarus and Pakistan.

"However, it was stressed that the volume of trade does not correspond to the agreements on increasing trade turnover reached between our countries at the highest level. In this regard, there is mutual interest in expanding the range of products supplied," the embassy informed.

Belarus is ready to supply the Pakistani market with dried dairy products (whole and skimmed MILK powder, whey powder), cheese, condensed and concentrated milk, butter, canned poultry and beef products. Pakistan expressed interest in increasing direct supplies of rice, potatoes, mangoes and citrus fruits to Belarus.

"The parties agreed to provide mutual assistance in finding trade partners interested in supplying agricultural products to the markets of Pakistan and Belarus," added the embassy.

In addition, the countries have confirmed their intention to establish direct contacts between representatives of the business community to establish joint ventures for milk processing in Pakistan, production of whole-milk products (ice cream, drinking yoghurt, cheese, yoghurt) and baby food powder using Belarusian dried milk and domestic technologies.

Another topic of the meeting was the holding of the fifth meeting of the bilateral working group on agriculture in MINSK this autumn, as well as the organization of a Belarusian-Pakistani agro-industrial business forum as part of the event.
