Children will receive the vaccine in two doses of 10 micrograms, one-third of the amount given to people over 12 years of age. Doses will be distributed at three-week intervals, the CDC said. During clinical trials, the vaccine showed a 91 percent effectiveness among children.
The Pfizer/BioNTech co-produced adult vaccine was approved by the World HEALTH Organization (WHO) on December 31, 2020.
