The demand for SUGAR in the Rostov region has increased ninefold. This was announced by the first deputy of the Don Governor Viktor Goncharov during the headquarters for monitoring and responding to changes in the situation in the food markets of the region.
“Due to increased demand, there are difficulties with the pace of preparation of the goods, since the demand for sugar at the end of last week increased by almost nine times. At the same time, the stock of sugar in a wholesale warehouse, for example, is at the level of 50 days and is regularly replenished; in the distribution centers of shopping facilities, sugar stocks in wholesale organizations are kept at the level of seven days, ”he explained.
Goncharov also added that "empty shelves" in stores can be associated with unreasonably increased mass demand. According to trade organizations, a similar situation was recorded in the spring of 2020, when there were sudden surges in demand for various goods, not only for sugar, but also for buckwheat, toilet paper, chilled chicken MEAT.
“I want to note right away that the Rostov region fully provides itself with almost all the main types of food. The commodity stocks of retail facilities in the Rostov region are regularly replenished, but there is an increase in demand for certain types of goods,” Goncharov emphasized.
