Record daily number of COVID infections revealed in Crimea

Over the past day, 579 cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in Crimea, according to the website of the Republican Ministry of Health.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 87,060 people have been infected, the report said.

This is the highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic. The incidence in the region has been growing continuously since September 16, when 232 cases were detected. The republic sets a record for the daily number of cases 14 times in a row. On October 15, 568 new infections were detected in Crimea.

On October 13, Crimean Deputy Prime Minister Elena Romanovskaya said that the republican authorities would consider tightening anti-COVID measures "if the indicators do not stabilize." By that time, eight schools, 142 classes and one kindergarten were on distance learning in the region.
