Nizhny Novgorod region needs additional volunteers due to COVID-19

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, due to the aggravated situation with the incidence of CORONAVIRUS, an additional set of volunteers is being recruited to help elderly citizens, veterans and doctors.

As the press service of the regional government said, the volunteer center of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement “Volunteers of Victory” is currently providing daily assistance to citizens during the coronavirus pandemic. Now there are more than 1 thousand people in the ranks of volunteers. In addition, volunteers from Nizhny Novgorod help medical workers in healthcare facilities under high workload conditions.

The main areas in which volunteers are involved include targeted and informational assistance to citizens, as well as assistance in polyclinics in Nizhny Novgorod: volunteers print directions for PCR tests, deliver PCR tests to the laboratory, help keep records in the filing cabinet, deliver medicines for patients with coronavirus

Recall that the current wave of coronavirus cases in the Nizhny Novgorod region is the most serious since the beginning of the pandemic. A record 8,500 beds for patients with coronavirus infection have been deployed in the region. According to the Deputy Governor, Minister of HEALTH of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, David Melik-Guseinov, there has never been such a sharp rise in the incidence in the region.
