Kondratiev told why the incidence of COVID-19 in the Kuban has increased

The number of cases of CORONAVIRUS in the Krasnodar Territory has increased due to the arrival of tourists on New Year's holidays. This was announced by the Governor of the region Veniamin Kondratiev.

“During the New Year holidays, the region received 500,000 vacationers. And this is normal, we are a resort region. Naturally, this could not but affect the growth in the number of cases in the last 10 days. There are already seven confirmed cases of infection with the Omicron strain. The situation is not simple, but it is under control, ”he said at a meeting of the coordinating council for coronavirus under the Russian government.

He added that 28 covid hospitals with 5,700 beds have been deployed in the region. Of these, more than 25% of the bed fund is free. If necessary, an additional 2,000 beds can be deployed in the region. Also, the governor noted, the Kuban has all the necessary stocks of medicines, personal protective equipment and ventilators. There are no interruptions in the supply of oxygen.

As RBC Krasnodar reported, 420,000 people came to the Krasnodar Territory during the New Year holidays. This is 4% more than in 2021, and 10% more than in 2020. Most of the tourists went to Sochi - 270 thousand people.

The number of cases of covid-19 has been growing in the region since January 11. As of January 25, 935 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the Krasnodar Territory. Of these, 299 people were hospitalized. In total, 13612 cases of infection were confirmed in the region during the entire period of the pandemic. During this time, 106,436 residents recovered, of which 42 people per day. 7 people died per day, for the entire period of the pandemic - 10018.
