Production of organic crop products in Belarus in 2020 increased by almost 6 times

March 18, MINSK. The production of organic crop products in Belarus in 2020 increased by almost six times, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
"Organic products in Belarus in 2020 were produced by 27 business entities of the Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Minsk and Mogilev regions (including those in the transition period). There are no such entities in the Gomel region. In general, more than 1247.55 hectares of agricultural land have been certified throughout the country and 6942.26 tons of organic crop products were produced (5.8 times more than last year).In addition, 300 liters of MILK, 660 tons of processed products, 50 tons of biofertilizers and biological products, 600 liters of microfertilizers were produced, 700 tons of wild products were harvested, "- told the press office.
The law "On the production and circulation of organic products" came into force in Belarus on November 18, 2019. it was developed taking into account international experience in the development of organic agriculture in the countries of near and far abroad. National certification bodies have been created on the basis of the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Food and the Belarusian State Institute of Metrology. At the moment, two certificates of conformity have been issued: Healthy Country LLC and Minsk Crystal OJSC, the management company of the Minsk Crystal Group holding.
To provide state support to producers of organic agricultural products, amendments were made to Decree No. 347 of July 17, 2014 "On State Agrarian Policy". This document is supplemented by an event to reimburse the costs of certification of organic products and their production processes. This event is also included in the state program "Agricultural business" for 2021-2025.
