27 March,
MINSK . The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange plans to become an electronic trading hub and a center for up-to-date information on the commodity market of the Republic of
Belarus for buyers of agricultural products from Asian countries, and is also ready to provide consulting support to Asian companies interested in doing business in Belarus, a BELTA correspondent was told at BUCE.
This was discussed in Shanghai during a business forum on trade and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector in Central and Southeast Asia, which was held in Xi'an. The event was organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Committee for the Promotion of International Trade, and the participants included importers and distributors of agricultural products from
CHINA , Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - more than a hundred organizations in total.
"Today, all agricultural producers of the Republic of Belarus work on the exchange. These are
MILK processors, oil extraction plants, and
SUGAR industry enterprises.
The products they manufacture are in high demand on the Asian market and are already supplied to certain countries through exchange trading. For example, since 2022, Chinese companies have been purchasing rapeseed
oil , dry
milk and wet blue leather on the exchange platform, and
MEAT products,
sugar and
dry milk are exported to Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan and
Uzbekistan . I would like to separately mention Mongolia. Thanks to the efforts of our Mongolian broker, in just a few months of
2024 , this country entered the top 3 buyers of Belarusian granulated sugar. In other words, the Asian direction of exchange trading is actively developing, and we are open to proposals for cooperation," the BUCE emphasized. Within the framework of the forum, targeted negotiations were held with Asian food industry enterprises on the issue of purchasing Belarusian dairy products through the BUCE. As a result, an agreement was reached on the sale of dry whey to
China . In addition, the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China expressed its readiness to assist in attracting Malaysian palm oil producers to BUCE, which is in demand among confectionery enterprises of the Republic of Belarus. The BUCE representative office in Shanghai was opened in 2023 with the aim of expanding the pool of Chinese users of the exchange platform, promoting Belarusian goods on the Chinese market and organizing the supply of import-substituting products in demand in Belarus. To date, 167 residents of China, including 3 exchange brokers, are accredited at BUCE.
