Russia has created a system for monitoring cow health in real time through the stomach

The system is based on the use of an electronic sensor. The "smart" device is introduced orally into one of the 4 sections of the cow's stomach using a special device, where it remains throughout its life. This system transmits the most important information about the acid-base balance (pH), water consumption, body temperature, and the animal's motor activity.

These indicators are sent via the Internet in real time to a base station located on the farm, and then to the cloud storage. Users of the system - zootechnicians, veterinarians and breeders - from any gadget, with the help of special software, get access to the monitored indicators of each animal.

According to scientists at the VIM Center, the sensor records current and visual information about  the HEALTH and physiological state, feeding efficiency, and heat of cows. Such round-the-clock monitoring allows for prompt adjustments to the animals' diet, preventing one of the most common diseases - metabolic acidosis, and also tracking the approach of labor by analyzing motor activity.

The system has been launched into small-scale production and has been successfully tested at Borodulinskoye LLC (Sverdlovsk Region), Plemzavod Maysky Agricultural Production Cooperative (Vologda Region), Timiryazev LLC (Republic of Tatarstan ) and the largest dairy complex in the Kaliningrad Region, Kashtanovka.
