
Over the past four years, residents of the Rostov region have significantly reduced the number of animals kept in their personal subsidiary plots. Relevant data are provided in the report on the development of personal subsidiary plots in the Rostov region, published on the website of the regional government.
As stated in the report, in 2016 there were almost 564,000 personal subsidiary plots in the Rostov region. In 2020, there were more of them - 565 thousand. At the same time, the inhabitants of the region began to keep much fewer animals. So, in 2016, there were 404.5 thousand heads of cattle on farms, and in 2020 - only 378.1 thousand heads (-26.4 thousand). The number of pigs decreased (from 198.3 thousand heads to 111.9 thousand heads; -86.4 thousand), sheep and goats (from 733.2 thousand heads to 583.8 thousand heads; -149.4 thousand), agricultural poultry (from 10.4 million heads to 8.4 million heads; -2 million). MEAT production in personal subsidiary farms decreased from 156.8 thousand tons to 145 thousand tons (-11.8 thousand tons), and MILK production - from 916.8 thousand tons to 849.9 thousand tons (-66 .9 thousand tons).
