Interregional exercises to eliminate potential outbreaks of African swine fever were held in Buryatia

According to legend, the virus entered the pig farm with a truck driver who had been hunting a wild boar the day before.

The event was attended by veterinary services of the Trans-Baikal and Khabarovsk territories, the Amur and Irkutsk regions, the Jewish Autonomous Region, and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

From the Office of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia, the deputy HEAD Vasily Garmaev, heads and deputy heads of veterinary supervision departments Olga Ivanova, Irina Turusova, Badma Garmaev, state inspectors Bair Dambaev, Larisa Egorova participated.

The event was opened by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Buryatia -Minister of Agriculture and Food Galsan Dareev.

As part of the exercise, a quarantine was introduced in the infection zone and checkpoints were installed. Upon completion of liquidation activities, animal corpses and biological waste were disposed of and final disinfection was carried out.

During the exercise, the following issues were worked out: interdepartmental interaction of all services in the event of an emergency; coherence of forces and means to localize and eliminate the outbreak of African swine fever; making management decisions in accordance with veterinary rules.

The event involved more than 150 people and more than 40 pieces of equipment, including disinfection machines, a mobile paroformalline chamber, fire trucks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations , traffic police patrol cars, ambulances, trucks, an excavator and a corpse incinerator.

These exercises allow, without disrupting the production process, in a relatively short time, to work out the entire range of measures related to bringing facilities into readiness, protecting workers, employees and the population from an emergency.
