Tatarstan Tops Russia's Shashlik Index: Availability and Gastronomic Traditions

To compile the "Shashlik Index," the prices of nine types of shashlik and a picnic basket for eight people were analyzed. Tatarstan and the Belgorod region demonstrated the lowest prices, at just 1,796 rubles, making them ideal for family outings.

According to the study , the most affordable types of shashlik in RUSSIA are vegetable (945 rubles), chicken (1,195 rubles), white fish (1,312 rubles), and mushroom (1,433 rubles). Meanwhile, the most popular pork shashlik costs 1,646 rubles, a 4% increase compared to the previous year. The most expensive option is red fish shashlik, costing up to 4,747 rubles.

Tatarstan not only offers affordable shashlik but is also renowned for its diverse recipes based on local spices and herbs. The region also offers numerous picturesque picnic spots, making outdoor recreation even more appealing.

Despite the leadership of Tatarstan and the Belgorod Region, other regions, such as the Omsk Region and Mordovia, also rank highly in terms of shashlik availability. Adygea continues to attract tourists with its unique dishes, while Kamchatka is becoming popular for seafood lovers. Tatarstan continues to develop its picnic culture, offering delicious and affordable options for outdoor recreation.
