The price of free on board pork was $107.22 on Friday, up $2.60. The only decline was a drop in ham prices. According to federal estimates, hog slaughter this week totaled 2.163 million HEAD, 790 head more than during the same holiday week last year.

The USDA estimated pork inventories in cold storage at 455.8 million pounds, up 46.3 million pounds from March. This is more than double the five-year average increase of 21.7 million pounds, although part of this was due to a downward revision of 12.8 million pounds to March inventories. However, pork inventories have declined by 43.5 million pounds (8.7%) since April 2024 and by 92.5 million pounds (16.9%) compared to the five-year average.
