Sakhalin Region: ornithosis was detected in a bird in a private backyard

An outbreak of ornithosis occurred in one of their personal subsidiary farms in the Uglegorsk district of the Sakhalin region.

The causative agent of an infectious disease (Chlamydophila psittaci), which poses a danger to humans, was identified by specialists of the Primorsky Interregional Veterinary Laboratory (Primorskaya MVL) during the study of fecal samples taken in a private chicken coop using PCR.

The results of the study were entered into the Vesta and Cyrano information systems, the data were transferred to the central office, other territorial departments of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR and related departments. The Regional Agency for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Breeding announced restrictive measures to prevent the spread of infection.
