The Miratorg company conducted an investigation after the incident with a needle in a steak

The company reported that the metal detector, which is installed on the steak production line, is configured to detect metals: stainless steel with a diameter of 4.0 mm, iron with a diameter of 2.5 mm, non-ferrous metal with a diameter of 3.0 mm. Therefore, if a metal object entered the product, it would be immediately detected and the product itself would be rejected.

The serviceability of the metal detector is checked once every 2 hours using special test samples by the line operator and periodically by a specialist from the quality control department, which is reflected in the control log. Checking the operation of the equipment confirmed, the company reports, that the metal detector is working properly: during control checks, the equipment sees test samples and rejects them.

On the day of production of the batch of Picanha steak purchased by the consumer, 10 scheduled checks of the metal detector’s performance were carried out by the line operator and 4 checks by the quality service staff - no deviations in the operation of the equipment were found. Thus, the company argues that the item that was discovered by the buyer in the company's products, and ended up there, as is categorically asserted, through the fault of the company, was not introduced into the company's products at production.
