U.S. beef exports top $1 billion for the first time

US beef set a new export record in August, surpassing the $1 billion mark for the first time, the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) said. August beef exports were 132,577 tons, up 21% from a year ago and the second-highest volume this year, while the value of exports rose 55% to $1.04 billion.

From January to August, beef exports increased 18% year-over-year to 955,407 tons, while the value rose 34% to $6.62 billion. Exports also increased by 6% in volume and 20% in value compared to the record pace set in 2018.
