According to data as of the end of March, there is a trend of price growth for most food products. In the last week, prices increased for 34 of the 42 analyzed products, while a decrease was recorded for 8. Over the month, there is also a general trend of price increase: an increase in 35 products was recorded, while prices fell for 7 products. Over the year, prices increased for 39 products, and a decrease affected only 3 items.

Price changes per week

The most significant price increases over the week were for the following products:

  • Potatoes: +4.0%
  • Beetroot: +2.2%
  • Fresh white cabbage: +2.1%
  • Fresh tomatoes : +1.7%
  • Carrots: +0.7%

Among the products whose prices have decreased, there has been a decrease in the cost of pork on the bone (-0.05%), dry MILK mixtures for baby food (-0.1%) and chicken MEAT (-0.3%).

Price changes per month

In the monthly analysis, the largest price increase is also associated with potatoes (+15.1%) and beetroot (+8.9%). A significant increase in prices is also observed for white cabbage (+7.5%) and fresh tomatoes (+7.1%).

Among the products that have become cheaper over the month, fresh cucumber stands out with a price drop of 22.8% and chicken eggs (-3.2%).

Price changes over the year

The annual analysis shows that potatoes have become significantly more expensive, increasing in price by 139.1%, while onions have risen in price by 42.1%. Butter and white cabbage have also noted a significant increase in price - 37.7% and 29.5% respectively.

Among the few products that have become cheaper over the year, carrots (-0.4%), buckwheat groats (-6.1%) and chicken eggs (-12.0%) stand out.

These data show a steady trend towards rising food prices in RUSSIA, which undoubtedly affects the economic situation and purchasing power of the local population.
