Acquaintance on the street in Vitebsk turned into a murder

November 23, Vitebsk. A Vitebsk resident, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, after a quarrel, set fire to a random acquaintance and tried to escape. The perpetrator has been arrested. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

On November 20, at about 20.00, the corpse of an unknown woman was found on the landing in one of the houses along Moskovsky Prospekt in Vitebsk with bodily injuries and severe burns.

Within 24 hours, criminal investigation officers identified a suspect in the crime. During the operational-search activities, the investigators found out that on the eve of the tragedy, the woman and the alleged criminal met on the street. Further, the conversation continued while drinking ALCOHOL on the landing at the place of residence of the suspect. During the quarrel, the man set fire to a random acquaintance, after which he fled.

The employees of the criminal investigation department established that the murder of a woman was committed by an unemployed 32-year-old Vitebsk resident, previously convicted of causing grievous bodily harm. With the support of the riot police, the man was detained.

The USC in the Vitebsk region added that the investigative team examined the scene of the incident, appointed the necessary expert studies. The Vitebsk city department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 139 (murder) of the Criminal Code. The suspect was interrogated. Currently, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out with him.
