The Prosecutor's Office of the Mogilev Region supported the state prosecution in
COURT against a 36-year-old resident of Babruisk, who is charged with the murder of his father, who was in a helpless state, committed with particular cruelty. This was reported to BELTA by the information service of the regional department. During the court hearing,
it was established that the accused and his father had been drinking
ALCOHOL for several days . After another trip to the store and drinking alcohol together on October 18,
2024 , the man, very drunk, went to bed on the couch in his father's room. After some time, his father began to wake him up: the son got angry and began to hit his father. The victim was a disabled person of the second group, he had problems with the musculoskeletal system, he could not stand on his own. Despite this, the accused, realizing that he was causing his father particular suffering and torment, struck him with his hands and feet at least 29 times on various parts of the body, including vital organs. The victim
died at the scene of the incident a short time later. During the court hearing, the accused admitted his guilt in full. He explained that his father did not resist when he was struck. When he fell to the floor, he covered him with a blanket and went back to sleep. He was woken up by police officers. At that time, his father was still lying on the floor and, as it turned out, was already dead. The accused did not work anywhere, led an asocial lifestyle, abused alcohol, and was repeatedly brought to administrative and criminal liability for committing offenses and crimes while intoxicated.

Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the panel of judges for criminal cases of the Mogilev Regional Court issued a guilty verdict. Based on paragraphs 2 and 6 of Part 2 of Article 139 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of
Belarus , a sentence of 15 years' imprisonment in a strict-regime penal colony was imposed.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed and contested in the appellate procedure.
