The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Gomel Region has established the circumstances of the death of a 62-year-old resident of the village of Kolbovka, Vetkovsky District, Maria Krivonogova, official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Gomel Region, told BelTA.
According to the Investigative Committee, the man often visited a 52-year-old fellow villager, whom he helped with the housework. For his work, he received food and cigarettes. And on Orthodox Easter - May 5,
2024 - the owner of the house, having settled the household chores, gave the assistant
money and sent him on his bicycle to a neighboring agro-town for
ALCOHOL and cigarettes. When he returned,
the men drank in honor of the holiday.
After some time, the owner of the house gave the guest Br100 and sent him to the store again. As the villager later explained, the messenger returned without purchases and without money, and this led to a conflict.
"In a fit of aggression, the defendant viciously beat the guest. In addition to his fists, he used a poker and a mop until they broke. Then he left the beaten man on the cold floor in the hallway and went to spend the night at a friend's. Returning home, he dragged his assistant to the garden. He was still unconscious. After a while, he carried him to the river behind his plot and threw him into the water," noted the official representative of the Investigative Committee.
The forensic medical examination report stated that the man's
death was caused by mechanical asphyxia due to the blockage of the airways by water during drowning.
The resident of the Vetkovsky District was charged under paragraph 6, part 2, article 139 (intentional unlawful deprivation of life of another person, committed with particular cruelty) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. The accused was taken into custody.
