November 24, Vitebsk. In the Vitebsk region, 47% of workplace injuries in 2022 were due to negligence. In 22% of cases, the victims themselves violated labor protection instructions, BelTA learned from the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

Speaking about the results of comprehensive work to fulfill the requirements of the Directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 1 "On measures to strengthen public security and discipline", the regional executive committee drew attention to the stable operational situation. The level of criminalization in the region is one of the lowest in the country. The measures taken to prevent crime, prevent drunkenness, alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as the social adaptation of people who returned from correctional institutions, helped to achieve this. "At the same time, the most unfavorable situation has developed in the Orsha, Vitebsk, Chashniksky districts and the Oktyabrsky district of the regional center. It is connected with domestic murders and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, - explained in the regional executive committee. - In some areas, there is an increase in crimes in public places of the category of grave and especially grave and committed in a state ofalcohol intoxication . At railway and air transport facilities, crimes were registered 23% less."

The traffic situation is improving. The number of accidents decreased by 3.6%, the number of people killed in them - by 19%. Also among the positive trends is the absence of emergencies during the drying of the crop, as well as cases of accidents and injuries during the operation of equipment at construction sites and heat sources supervised by Gospromnadzor.

"The death of people on the water in the region decreased by 40%. However, the number of deaths in fire, from alcohol poisoning increased. More than 100 people received industrial injuries of varying severity. The number of fatal injuries at work in the Vitebsk region is the lowest in the country for the third year in a row. There have been a little more than 10 such cases since the beginning of the year. An increase in the level of industrial injuries was allowed in seven districts, not a single such fact was recorded in the Rossony district," the regional executive committee said.

Experts attribute a significant increase in cases of industrial injuries with drunken workers to inefficient work to ensure discipline in organizations. Alcohol intoxication in 7% of cases was one of the causes of injury or death. "917 employees have been fired for drinking alcohol at the workplace and during working hours since the beginning of the year," the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee added. "More than 8,000 were disciplined for absenteeism, over 1,700 of them were fired."

The specialists added that managers should increase the demand for discipline and order, including using additional preventive measures. After all, the labor protection management system operating in the northern region has reserves, and their use will reduce the level of industrial injuries and prevent occupational morbidity. These issues were discussed today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
