
December 4, MINSK . A truck driver will be tried in Minsk for causing the near-death of his friend in a traffic accident, BELTA reports, citing the Department for Interaction with the Media and Editorial Activities of the Prosecutor General's Office.
The criminal case against the 33-year-old driver has been sent to COURT . He is accused of violating traffic rules while intoxicated.ALCOHOL intoxication , which through negligence resulted in causing serious bodily harm.According to the case file, on August 2, 2023, after drinking alcohol during the day on the occasion of returning home from another multi-day flight, the accused decided to pick up his common-law wife from work. He drove there drunk in his car, wearing only his underwear.
Having picked up the woman from work, he forced her into the car and headed home at high speed. Having passed two intersections, the driver, moving at a speed of about 90 km/h along G. Shirm Street in the direction of M. Goretsky Street in Minsk, wanted to overtake a passing car and drove into the oncoming lane. There he lost control, collided with three cars and rolled over on his side.
By a lucky coincidence, no one in the other vehicles was hurt. The accused's girlfriend was pulled out of the car, which could not be repaired, by the Ministry of Emergency Situations . The woman received serious bodily injuries that were life-threatening.
