March 19, MINSK. A field was on fire in the Loevsky district. Rescuers at the site of scorched vegetation found a badly burned body of a pensioner. This was reported to BelTA in the Gomel Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"On March 18, at 15.23, the rescuers at the operational control center of the Loevsky district department for emergencies received a message from the duty officer of the District Department of Internal Affairs via a direct communication line about a fire of dry vegetation in a field in the village of Sevki. Upon arrival at the place where the rescuers were called, it was found that burning dry vegetation was taking place" - said the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

During reconnaissance on the territory of the land plot of the KSUP "Byvalki", a heavily burned body of a pensioner born in 1940 was found in the burnt grass. According to eyewitnesses, the events most likely developed as follows: the man walked home across the field from the village of Sevki to the village of Maysk with obvious signs of intoxication , then stopped, sat down and lit a cigarette.

The fire was extinguished by rescuers. As a result of the fire, dry vegetation on an area of ​​0.4 hectares was destroyed. The cause of the fire is being established. The version under consideration is careless handling of fire. Employees of the Investigative Committee and the operational group of the Loevsky District Department of Internal Affairs worked at the scene of the fire.

“On March 14, a very similar incident occurred in the Petrikovsky district: a man also returned home with obvious signs of ALCOHOL intoxication, lay down on the grass, lit a cigarette and fell asleep. was admitted to the hospital," the Ministry of Emergency Situations added.

For some citizens, it is customary to throw a non-extinguished cigarette butt into the window of a car, passing by roadsides with dry grass or forests. As a result, fire can instantly spread to residential buildings and structures, causing enormous damage and loss of life. "Carefully extinguish cigarette butts and matches behind you before throwing them away. In no case should you leave a burning fire unattended. If you see grass burning, do not pass by. Grass that has just begun to burn, you can put out yourself .Immediately report the incident to the rescuers if you understand that it is not possible to extinguish the flame on your own, and leave the place of the fire as soon as possible," the department added.
