Investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Brest Region have established the circumstances of the brutal murder of a woman in Pinsk. Thanks to experienced investigators and new technical capabilities, it was possible to identify the accused after 16 years. This was reported to BELTA by the Investigative Committee.

In December 2008, residents of one of the houses on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street reported the murder of a woman to the police. Upon detailed examination, on the mutilated body of the 54-year-old womanLaw enforcement officers found multiple HEAD and body injuries, including damage to internal organs.

Investigators checked various versions of what happened. In particular, they worked through the circle of acquaintances of the deceased. Three residents of Pinsk who lived in the entrance of the house where the woman's body was found fell under suspicion. It was established that the day before the tragedy, the Pinsk resident drank ALCOHOL with them . No direct evidence of their guilt was obtained. In addition, the suspects indicated that a previously unknown man was also in their company. Their testimony confirmed the results of the study of objects seized from the scene. During the genetic examination, the genotype of an unknown man was found on a lighter, a cigarette butt and a glass bottle of alcohol , which was placed in the database of the automated information system "DNA". At that time, no matches were found.

Further studies were repeatedly conducted using the latest technologies, which could not be carried out in 2008. To conduct a comparative study with the genotype found at the scene, biological samples were taken from previously convicted persons and persons of operational interest. The suspect was traced in 2024. During the check, specialists established a match between the genotype and the DNA profile of a 42-year-old resident of the Pinsk district. Soon, police officers detained the man.

During the first interrogation, the suspect denied his involvement in the murder. Witnesses were shown a photograph of a Pinsk resident, from which they identified the man who drank alcohol in the company of the deceased in 2008. In addition, numerous biological traces left by the suspect directly indicated that he was one of the last to have contact with the woman. After presenting the man with a number of irrefutable pieces of evidence of his involvement in the crime, he began to give truthful and consistent testimony.

The suspect said that he met a woman near the train station who invited him to have a drink with her friends. The representative of the fair sex led him to an apartment where a man and two women were. Under the influence of alcohol, the accused fell asleep. When he woke up, only a 54-year-old woman was in the apartment, with whom they continued drinking. According to the accused, when he went out onto the landing, he decided to have sex with his new acquaintance, but when she refused, he hit her on the head and then raped her. The man tried to hide the traces of the crime and caused injuries to the victim that were incompatible with life.

Following the investigation, the 42-year-old man was charged under a number of articles of the Criminal Code: Part 3 of Article 167 (other acts of a sexual nature committed against the will of the victim, with the use of violence, resulting in causing grievous bodily harm); Part 3 of Article 166 (rape resulting in causing grievous bodily harm); Part 2 of Article 139 (murder committed with particular cruelty, coupled with violent acts of a sexual nature and rape).
