On the evening of December 15, 2023, the body of a 64-year-old Minsk resident was discovered in an apartment on Leshchinsky Street in the capital. Police detained a 36-year-old acquaintance of the deceased on suspicion of murder, with whom he had been drinking the previous day . According to case materials, the older of the friends invited them to have a drink at his home that day. The men had previously met in the same groups, abused alcohol, and were unemployed, so within an hour they were sitting at the same table.

"A friendly gathering, accompanied by alcohol and conversations about life, suddenly escalated into an argument. The younger of the acquaintances had just been released from prison a few months earlier for committing a particularly serious crime and was extremely angered that his opponent, who had only served 10 days of detention for an administrative offense, considered himself an 'authority' under so-called prison laws," investigators explained.

The guest grabbed a frying pan from the stove and struck his friend over the head. The apartment owner, trying to defend himself, grabbed a knife from the table, but there was no stopping the guest. He snatched the weapon and stabbed the pensioner at least three times in the chest. According to the suspect, he had no intention of helping the man, as he knew his opponent was already dead. The Moscow resident realized what he had done and felt only one emotion: fear of arrest.

"But this didn't stop him from committing another crime. Considering that the two acquaintances were alone in the apartment, the attacker searched the premises for valuables. Before leaving, he took a television, a new electric chainsaw, the deceased's cell phone, the remaining vodka, and the murder weapon. After leaving the house, the accused finished the remaining alcohol and threw the empty bottle and knife into a snowdrift," the Investigative Committee for Minsk noted.

Unable to pawn the stolen goods, the suspect returned to his cousin, with whom he had recently been staying. Unable to conceal the incident, the suspect told his cousin's husband everything. To avoid criminal prosecution, the man went with him to Molodechno. Incidentally, he was also detained there. According to forensic experts, the pensioner died at the scene almost immediately from severe blood loss. His wife was the first to discover the deceased. Upon entering the apartment, the woman saw a bloody body in the kitchen and reported it to law enforcement.

"The defendant had previously been convicted of a crime under similar circumstances in 2014. Investigators questioned the defendant and witnesses, examined physical evidence, and added expert reports to the case file. The man admitted his guilt and cooperated with the investigation," investigators concluded. The

defendant's actions were classified under paragraph 16, part 2, Article 139 (murder committed by a person who had previously committed murder) and part 2, Article 205 (repeated theft) of the Criminal Code of Belarus. He was remanded in custody.
