Nazarenko: Homel police have a huge potential to perform all tasks

This was emphasized today in a conversation with journalists by First Deputy Interior Minister - Head of the Public Security Police Yury Nazarenko before the start of the final collegium of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.

Yuri Nazarenko drew attention to the fact that last year the internal affairs bodies of the Gomel region worked in difficult conditions, in a difficult environment. "But the Gomel police coped with all the tasks set in full. Security is ensured in the region, the operational situation is constantly under control," the First Deputy Minister emphasized.

He noted that in the southeastern region, the growth of crimes, especially in public places, as well as those committed by people in a state of intoxication , previously convicted, minors, has decreased. Fewer registered murders, serious bodily injuries, thefts, robberies, hooliganism. The death toll from criminal attacks has also been reduced.

"Road safety is ensured in the Gomel region in full. The number of registered road accidents, people killed and injured in them has decreased," said Yury Nazarenko.

The main task for 2023, he called the continuation of preventive measures with different segments of the population, especially in rural areas. This also applies to the prevention of drunkenness, domestic violence, as well as illegal actions that can be committed by adolescents in the face of modern risks and threats.
