Control over compliance with security measures has been strengthened at railway transport facilities

December 16, MINSK. To prevent accidents at railway transport facilities, from December 16 to 18, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is carrying out a set of preventive measures. Particular attention is paid to the observance by citizens of security measures, and the technical condition of pedestrian crossings and engineering structures will be studied, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Almost 55% of the victims at railway transport facilities were intoxicated . In total, since the beginning of the year, 97 accidents have occurred on steel lines, as a result of which 63 people died and 34 were injured. Four minors were among the victims, one of whom died - said the Ministry of Internal Affairs. - More than 60 cases of injuries were registered at stations and stopping points, more than 30 on stages. Most often, incidents occurred from 16.00 to 24.00. "

As law enforcers emphasized, the main reasons for such incidents are violations of security measures at railway transport facilities.

"Dear citizens, do not forget about the rules of safe behavior on the railway. Remember that it is strictly forbidden to: walk along the tracks, cross the track immediately after the passage of the train or in front of a nearby train; use headphones and mobile phones when crossing the railway tracks; crawl under the cars and climb over automatic couplers to cross the track occupied by the rolling stock. You can not be at the edge of the platform, pass along the railway track closer than 5 m from the outermost rail, and also climb on the contact supports and the roof of the rolling stock in electrified sections," the Ministry of Internal Affairs recalled.
