June 9, Brest. In Baranovichi, a man was hit by a train, Roman Zarmaev, official representative of the USC in the Brest region, told BelTA.

The tragedy happened this morning at the Locomotive Depot station. According to investigators, a 74-year-old man ran across the railroad tracks in front of a moving electric train. As a result of the collision, the pensioner died on the spot from the injuries received. According to preliminary information, the man was intoxicated .

The investigator, with the participation of specialists from the UGKSE in the Brest region, is conducting an inspection of the scene, and eyewitnesses of the incident are being interviewed.

The Baranovichi Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee is conducting an investigation.

The USC once again reminds of the rules of conduct when crossing the railway tracks: you can’t be near the tracks in a state of intoxication, walk on them and sit on the rails, use headphones and mobile phones. When crossing, you need to make sure that there is no railway transport in the visibility zone. it is forbidden to cross the tracks in front of a moving train and walk along the railway track closer than 5 m from the outermost rail.
