December 1, Minsk. From December 1 to December 3, employees of the State traffic inspectorate will strengthen control over compliance with traffic rules by pedestrians. Activities are focused on preventing road accidents involving vulnerable road users. BelTA was informed about this by Kristina Kharitonchik, senior inspector for agitation and propaganda of the OGAI of the Partizansky District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk.
“During this period, additional traffic police squads will be on duty on emergency sections of roads and at pedestrian crossings. Inspectors will monitor compliance with traffic rules by all road users. safe behavior on the road, explain the rules for the use of retroreflective elements, and also talk about responsibility for traffic violations," the traffic police said.
The State traffic inspectorate recalls that pedestrians are allowed to move along the side of the road towards the traffic flow and only where there is no sidewalk, pedestrian or bicycle path, and you need to cross the carriageway in the place established for this, after making sure that the vehicle has stopped. At night, to attract the attention of drivers, you need to designate yourself with retroreflective elements. This is especially important in difficult weather conditions, when the visibility of the road is reduced several times.
For violation of traffic rules by pedestrians, Article 18.20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for administrative liability in the form of a fine in the amount of one to three basic units. If, at the time of committing the offense, the pedestrian participant in the movement is in a state of alcoholic intoxication or in a state caused by the consumption of narcotic drugs, psychotropic, toxic or other intoxicating substances, the fine increases to five basic units.
