Deputies adopted in the first reading a draft law on compulsory treatment in LTP and readaptation

January 25, Minsk. The deputies of the ninth session of the House of Representatives of the seventh convocation adopted in the first reading the bill "On changing the laws on compulsory treatment and medical and social readaptation", BelTA has learned.

The draft law was submitted to the House of Representatives by the Council of Ministers. It was developed in order to improve legislation on compulsory treatment and medical and social readaptation of persons with dependence syndrome on alcohol, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, toxic or other intoxicating substances.

The draft law provides for amendments to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure and Penitentiary Codes of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the laws "On Health Care" and "On the provision of psychiatric care" in terms of bringing the terminology of chronic alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse in line with the International Statistical classification of diseases.

It is also proposed to amend the law "On the procedure and conditions for sending citizens to medical and labor dispensaries and the conditions of being in them" in terms of simplifying the procedure for sending citizens to labor dispensaries, taking into account law enforcement practice.
