January 27, Minsk. Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko outlined the main tasks facing the Tax Ministry for 2023 at the final board of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties, BelTA has learned.

"The administration of indirect taxes is one of the most difficult business processes in any country. As part of the implementation of the agreement between Belarus and the Russian Federation on the general principles of taxation for indirect taxes, from January 1, 2023, excise rates on alcoholic beverages and tobacco products have increased, the list of excisable goods.This innovation, along with positive effects for the republic, also carries risks that are associated with an increase in the illegal supply of tobacco products and analogues containing nicotine to the country due to an increase in prices for them.Tax authorities need to provide additional control measures to prevent illegal import and sale of alcohol-containing products, electronic smoking systems, circulation of tobacco products not marked with excise stamps of Belarus, the Prime Minister said.“Effective interaction between the national systems of administration of indirect taxes of Belarus and Russia should be organized in order to ensure control over the payment of VAT and identify the most risky links in the chain of sale of goods within the framework of the two states.”

As for the union programs for the integration of information systems for labeling goods, the task was set to switch to the use of cash register equipment by the end of 2025, which allows taking into account information about marked goods and transferring it to the control system of cash equipment and marking goods.
