The company is considering receiving government support.
So far, 10 hectares have been cultivated, with strawberries being the main crop, grown both outdoors and indoors. The farm also grows raspberries, honeysuckle, currants, blackberries, and gooseberries. During a working visit to the Lezhnevsky District on Wednesday, August 13, Governor Stanislav Voskresensky visited the Ivanovskaya Yagoda nursery and discussed marketing and plans for further production growth with farmers. "We love and support our farmers. Many are achieving significant success: I remember they started with small plots, but now they're bringing more and more land into cultivation. We'd be delighted if you joined those receiving support, growing, and earning money," Stanislav Voskresensky noted.
The governor sampled strawberries grown in the Lezhnevsky District and praised their taste.
According to Maryana and Pavel Dmitriev, the farm is three years old. it was exciting to start a new business and test my skills. Initially, they planted just over 3 hectares of berries, but now they're growing 10 hectares. For now, they're growing on their own, but in the future, when production volumes increase and reliable sales emerge, they'll consider participating in a grant competition.
Stanislav Voskresensky inquired about selling berries: where can one currently purchase the nursery's produce? Does the family farm participate in farmers' fairs? As Maryana Dmitrieva explained, participating in fairs isn't currently possible due to the sheer volume of work and the need for every worker, with little time even for sleep during the season. Furthermore, buyers have become accustomed to it, and they buy their produce directly from the farm. But when production volumes increase, fairs with preferential terms for local agricultural producers will certainly be a boon.
Denis Cherkesov, Deputy Chairman of the Ivanovo Region Government, reported that they are working with the Ivanovo city administration to open special points of sale for local berries in the city. This project is planned for next year.
Denis Cherkesov also noted that since 2018, the area of perennial fruit and berry plantings in the region has increased 25-fold, reaching 77 hectares. "This year, the volume of land allocated to berry crops is high, over 40 hectares, and by the end of the year, the total will be approximately 119 hectares: strawberries, raspberries, chokeberries, currants, blackberries, apples, and pears," the deputy chairman said. He noted that the interest of farmers and agricultural enterprises in developing this particular area is due to the shortage of Russian-produced berries on the market. "There was a fairly large import volume in previous years, and today we are actually regaining that share of imports, which previously accounted for over 90% for some berries," Denis Cherkesov explained.
Furthermore, the development of this sector in the Ivanovo region is facilitated by government support: grants for farmers and a specialized subsidy for perennial crops.
