"About agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs with improved characteristics"

On March 1, 2022, the Law “On Agricultural Products, Raw Materials and Food with Improved Characteristics” came into force in RUSSIA. it is aimed at developing the market for such goods in our country and increasing their accessibility to consumers.

The law establishes the relevant concepts, and also determines the basic requirements for the production of improved agricultural products, food, industrial and other products. Among them, the use in the production of agro-industrial and other technologies that meet the established environmental, sanitary-epidemiological, veterinary and other requirements and have a minimal negative impact on the environment; use of recyclable and biodegradable packaging and packaging materials; a ban on the use of cloning and genetic engineering methods, ionizing radiation.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia is the owner of the trademark - "Green Standard", which will be used as a distinguishing feature of such products when labeling. Manufacturers have the right to place the "Green Standard" mark on their products after receiving the appropriate certificate. Currently, the accredited certification body is ANO Roskachestvo. Within the framework of the technical committee for "green" standardization, created on the basis of ANO Roskachestvo, 6 national standards have already been developed. Such concepts as "agricultural products with improved characteristics", "food with improved characteristics", "industrial and other products with improved characteristics" are fixed. The standards also contain requirements for production, storage, transportation and sale. “Compliance with the ecological balance and the release of healthy products is one of the key trends in modern society in recent decades. We can also see this in the significant interest of producers and consumers in organic products. The concept of organic products in our country at the legislative level appeared two years ago, and today more than 100 manufacturers have already been certified in Russia.
