On the Don, the harvest continues and the sowing of winter crops is gaining momentum

In the Rostov region, seasonal field work continues, aimed at harvesting various crops and laying the 2023 harvest.
“Don agrarians carry out the whole range of autumn field work,” emphasized Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region. – Late grain and oilseeds, vegetables, fruits and grapes are being harvested. The geography of the autumn sowing campaign is expanding - today more than 20 regions of the Don have already joined the work on sowing winter crops. Soil is being prepared for sowing winter crops everywhere, which this year is planned to be sown on an area of ​​at least 2.8 million hectares. In this regard, today the main task, using favorable weather, is to complete all harvesting work and sow winter crops as soon as possible.”
According to operational data, out of 206 thousand hectares of late grain crops (corn, sorghum, rice, millet, buckwheat), the farms of the region harvested more than 13 thousand hectares, or more than 6%. The gross harvest amounted to almost 26 thousand tons, the average yield was 19.8 q/ha.
The harvesting of oilseeds (rapeseed, mustard, flax, sunflower) is being activated. To date, 440 thousand tons have been harvested and collected from 23.5% of the area (more than 270 thousand hectares). At the same time, the average yield is 16.2 q/ha.
In addition, the harvesting of vegetables and potatoes in agricultural organizations and peasant farms of the Don continues. Vegetable crops have been harvested from 63% of the area and already almost 160 thousand tons, with an average yield of 398 centners per hectare. The gross harvest of potatoes today is more than 126 thousand tons with a yield of 300 centners per hectare, 61% of the area has been harvested.
Almost 40% of the area has been harvested in fruit farms in the region, the gross harvest of fruits and berries is already more than 3.2 thousand tons.
Also on the Don is harvesting grapes. Harvest - 1.6 thousand tons collected from almost 20% of the area.
At the same time, the Don fields are preparing the soil for sowing winter crops and increasing the area of ​​the sowing campaign. To date, almost 255 thousand hectares have already been sown with winter crops, which is about 9% of the plan.
