pionerprodukt.by continues to publish a series of videos from the AgroExpedition "Agriculture of the Republic of Tatarstan". In this video, we will talk about the features and benefits of keeping bees.
Alexey Andreevich started beekeeping 30 years ago. Then, a forester friend came to him and complained that a tree in which the bees lived was cut down in the forest, the honey disappeared and the swarm was left alone, doomed to die in winter. Friends together brought a block of bees home, found a hive and settled there. And although there was no experience in beekeeping at that moment, including basic knowledge of bee biology, the bee colonies remained on the farm, because in order to save them, they had to immediately start studying and seriously engage in beekeeping.
At the time of filming, the apiary consisted of 31 bee colonies of the Karnika breed. Anti-swarm traps were set up near some hives. In order to catch a swarm, it is necessary to smear the trap with apiroy - a pheromone that lures bees.
The karnika bee breed is famous for its peaceful disposition, but it requires special attention in winter, it is risky to leave this breed of bees on the street for the winter, so it is necessary to clean the hives in the omshanik.
On the sand at Alexander Andreevich, some hives are adapted for two-queen maintenance, when two queens are kept in the lower compartment of the hive, which cannot leave their compartment, and the common buildings are already being completed above. This system is designed to increase the honey collection of bees.
Honey in the apiary of Alexander Andreevich is pumped once a season. But sometimes, as the stores fill up, some sealed frames are taken out for pumping. It all depends on the amount and amount of honey collection per season.
Along the perimeter of the apiary there are traps for hornets and wasps, these are ordinary plastic bottles without caps, into which sour jam is poured. Insects get inside the bottle, but they cannot get out.
Drinking bowls for bees are also installed on the territory of the apiary. Alexander Andreevich shares the secret of drinking solution: one tablespoon of sea salt per 10 liters of water.
