The United States has included the Russian company Intellect and associated Russian citizen Sergei Kozlov on the DPRK sanctions list, according to the website of the Office for Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury.

Also under Washington's restrictions was a citizen of the DPRK, Jung Chin Yong.

"Today's action is directed against two individuals who directly supported or helped generate income for DPRK organizations associated with the development of weapons of mass destruction, and identifies a company owned by one of these individuals," the department said in a press release.

According to the US Department of the Treasury, Jung Chin Yong coordinated the construction project of Intellect LLC with the “front company” of the Second Academy of Natural Sciences (SANS), which was put on the US sanctions list back in 2010 for participating or attempting to participate. in deals relating to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

In turn, Kozlov helped Jung Chin Yong in the purchase of equipment used in the shipbuilding industry, the agency explains. The latter led a team of North Korean IT workers in Russia and worked with Russians to obtain ID cards to verify North Korean IT accounts on freelance platforms. According to the US Treasury, some documents were obtained from family members or Russian employees of Kozlov.
