Rosselkhoznadzor will introduce temporary restrictions on the supply of apples from the Brest region of Belarus, the press service of the department reports.
“In order to prevent the supply of sanctioned products to Russia, the Rosselkhoznadzor introduces temporary restrictions on the import of fresh apples from March 17, 2021,” the report says.
The measures were taken after the department revealed an attempt to smuggle sanctioned products into Russia. The seized products were accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Main State Inspectorate for Seed Production, Quarantine and Plant Protection of the Republic of Belarus, responsible for confirming the Belarusian origin of apples. However, as the labeling showed, the apples were grown in Poland, the agency points out.
Transport companies may be responsible for the import of sanctioned products Business
Rosselkhoznadzor clarified that the restrictions will continue until the moment when Minsk provides information on the measures it is taking to prevent the recurrence of such violations. Then the effectiveness of these measures should be confirmed by Rosselkhoznadzor.
