The United States is tightening the rules for obtaining export permits to Russia for microelectronics, avionics and aircraft parts using American technology, the US Department of Commerce said.
“Some of the items <...> were not previously controlled for Russia and include microelectronics, telecommunications equipment, sensors, navigation equipment, avionics, marine equipment and aircraft components,” the document states.
Earlier , US President Joe Biden , in an address on the Russian operation in Ukraine, announced new sanctions and said that the actions of Washington and its allies should stop more than half of all Russian high-tech imports. According to the President, this will seriously affect the Russian space industry.
The HEAD of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, commenting on the restrictions, said that the US authorities had already blocked Russia's access to radiation-resistant space microelectronics in 2014. However, Russia continues to do everything with domestic components.
The US authorities have imposed new sanctions against Russia in connection with the start of a military operation in Ukraine. According to the US Treasury, Sberbank, VTB, Otkritie, Sovcombank and other banks were subject to restrictions. The sanctions list also included some Russians, including the sons of the special representative of the President of Russia for environmental protection, ecology and transport, Sergei Ivanov and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, as well as the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin.
