The introduction of the “Sustainable Tourism” program instead of the “covid security” programs does not imply the emergence of new restrictions for tourists, Dmitry Gorin, vice president of the Russian Union of Tourism Industry, told RBC.
The introduction of a new tourism safety program after the lifting of restrictions in force during the covid-19 pandemic was previously announced by the President of the Bodrum Hoteliers Association, Omer Faruk Dengiz. According to him, all hotels with a capacity of 30 or 50 rooms will have to receive security certificates under this program. The program should be finally implemented by 2030.
“The program “Sustainable Tourism” has nothing to do with covid restrictions. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) defines sustainable tourism as tourism that fully considers its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, meeting the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and host communities. That is, it is generally about the development of tourism, it is not about restrictions, not about covid,” Dmitry Gorin commented on the introduction of new certificates.
According to him, now all covid restrictions in the country have been canceled, it is not necessary to wear masks, the buffet in hotels is again in full operation .
According to Gorin, the president of the Bodrum Hoteliers Association, Omer Faruk Dengiz, did not talk about introducing any new restrictions or rules for tourists.
“He stated that the covid is over, there are no covid restrictions in Turkey, and then moved on to the topic of tourism development in the country. He spoke about the concept of tourism development in Turkey. Omer Faruk Dengiz mentioned the Sustainable Tourism program in the context of the restoration of international tourism and the harmonious development of the tourism industry in Turkey,” Gorin specified.

ATOR Vice President, CEO of Space Travel tour operator Artur Muradyan previously reported that, according to industry participants, the demand for outbound tourism this year is 40% lower than in pre-Covid 2019.
“The market expected a record volume of bookings in Turkey for the May holidays, and, accordingly, both hoteliers and carriers increased prices . However, against the background of the high exchange rate of foreign currencies, tourists decided to “wait and see” ... The main reason is the high price. For example, some hotels in Turkey have raised prices this year by up to 50% compared to the previous one,” Artur Muradyan said.
