The Covid hospital at the St. Luke Clinical Hospital in St. Petersburg has run out of free beds, the head of the unit, Sergei Zabirov, told TV channel 78.

The hospital is designed for 165 patients, all beds are constantly filled, the channel’s interlocutor said. According to Zabirov, when beds become vacant, they are immediately occupied by new patients, and this state of affairs continues for a month.

The facility receives patients with severe intoxication, CORONAVIRUS, influenza, viral and bacterial forms of pneumonia. “There are patients with mixed pneumonia in whom the gateway of infection is a viral infection,” he said.

There are also a small number of patients in the hospital who initially suffer from severe forms of influenza or coronavirus, but without pneumonia, 10%.

At the same time , the DOCTOR emphasized that the current wave of coronavirus is characterized by less severe forms of the disease.

According to the St. Petersburg department of Rospotrebnadzor, over the past four weeks, the incidence of ARVI and influenza among city residents has increased by 87.1%, among adults - by 119.3%, among children - by 65%.

In St. Petersburg, against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence rate, a mask regime was introduced on December 20 during mass New Year, sports, and cultural events for employees of the institutions hosting them.

Also, the city’s chief sanitary doctor, Natalia Bashketova, ordered the deployment of additional departments for patients with ARVI, coronavirus, community-acquired pneumonia and influenza. In hospitals and social institutions, a ban on visits from visitors was introduced, with the exception of those caring for seriously ill and bedridden patients. Mandatory temperature measurement has been introduced at the entrance to educational institutions.

The head of the federal Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said a day earlier that there were no plans to introduce a mandatory mask regime throughout RUSSIA, as well as other restrictions during the New Year holidays. During the 50th week of the year, the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections across the country increased by an average of 6.5% compared to the week before.
