Gunzburg appreciated the possibility of combining the Pfizer vaccine with Sputnik Light

The Russian covid-19 vaccine Sputnik Light, as the third component for those vaccinated with two injections of the Pfizer vaccine, will increase the level of protection against the delta strain. This was stated by the DIRECTOR of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg, RIA Novosti reports.

“RDIF’s step in proposing to boost the Pfizer vaccine with Sputnik Light is quite logical so that those who have been vaccinated with Pfizer will be effectively protected by the wider spectrum of antibodies that they will form as a result of the boost,” Gunzburg explained.

According to him, there are suggestions that Pfizer's vaccine against the delta strain is only 40% effective. Therefore, the vector version of the vaccine will help increase protection against the Indian mutation.

Earlier, the Russian Direct Investment Fund offered Pfizer to conduct research on the Sputnik Light CORONAVIRUS vaccine as a third dose. “Today, RDIF is proposing that Pfizer begin research on Sputnik Light as a booster,” the statement reads. it is also indicated that Sputnik V is 83.1% effective against the delta strain of coronavirus.
