Agricultural organizations of Belarus increased milk production by 8.5% in the first quarter

May 28, MINSK . Agricultural organizations in Belarus produced 8.5% more MILK in the first quarter than last year. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Sergei Fedchenko while summing up the functioning of the agro-industrial complex, BELTA correspondent reports.

“Since the beginning of this year, the livestock industry has shown good results. Thus, over the four months of this year, all areas have worked with positive dynamics. For example, despite difficult weather conditions, in the Vitebsk region they did not allow a drop in milk production and even increased the weight gain of cattle,” noted Sergey Fedchenko.

According to him, in January - March 2024 , agricultural organizations of the republic produced 2105.4 thousand tons of milk, or 108.5% of January - March 2023. The average milk yield per cow in the republic was 1518 kg, which is 119 kg more than January - March 2023.

In addition, in January - March 2024, 446.6 thousand tons (102.8%) of livestock and poultry were raised (in live weight), including cattle - 161.6 thousand tons (103.5%) , pigs - 109.6 thousand tons (105.4%), poultry - 175.3 thousand tons (100.6%).

"In the first quarter, the rate of livestock and poultry production was 102.8%. The growth in livestock and poultry production by January - March 2023 in the Gomel region alone was not ensured - 93.7%. 161.6 thousand tons of cattle were produced, which by January - March 2023 amounted to 103.5%. The average daily gain of cattle for growing and fattening increased by 25 g throughout the republic and amounted to 636 g,” emphasized the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food.
