The EEC has approved the procedure for introducing maximum standards for the residual content of antibiotics in food products

February 27, Moscow . The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the procedure for introducing changes made to the technical regulations of the Customs Union in the field of food safety, the EEC press service reported.

"These are technical regulations for food products, as well as for certain types of them: fat and oil products, MILK and dairy products, MEAT and meat products, fish and fish products, poultry meat and its processed products in terms of establishing maximum permissible levels of residual content in food products of veterinary medicines,” the EEC clarified.

The EEC Board has determined a transition period of 18 months from the date of entry into force (July 10, 2024 ) of the changes. During this period, food products may be produced and released into circulation in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union in accordance with the mandatory requirements previously established by these technical regulations. At the same time, circulation of such products on the Union market is allowed during the shelf life established by its manufacturer.

"The establishment of a transition period will have a positive impact on the conditions for doing business. Sufficient time is provided for the gradual preparation of manufacturers, persons authorized by manufacturers and sellers (suppliers) of food products of animal origin to comply with the new requirements for goods included in the technical regulations in the field of food safety, in part of establishing the maximum permissible levels of residual content of veterinary drugs in it,” the press service added.
