“Depends on the cost of compound feed”: Expert warns of a rise in meat prices in Ukraine

In the very near future, chicken, pork, beef and veal will rise in price in Ukraine. Experts have already said that the reason for the increase in the cost of MEAT was the increase in prices for wheat and animal feed. For the same reason, eggs and dairy products continue to increase in price.

According to Oleksandr Bakumenko, DIRECTOR of the Association of the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine, 70% of the cost of meat depends on the prices of mixed fodder. “This year, for the first time in 20 years in Ukraine, it happened that poultry farmers worked for the first two months with zero profitability. It is worth considering that at the same time, the livestock was reduced by as much as 20%. During this time, two egg factories were closed,” Bakumenko said. According to him, in a short time, poultry meat production has decreased by 6%, and this is the first time such a situation has developed in the last two decades.

According to other experts, in the coming weeks, prices for beef and pork may remain at the current level, but they will definitely not decrease. Analysts recalled that over the past year, chicken legs have risen in price by 70%, and chicken fillet by 50%, and this trend will continue.
