Delivering groceries to Kamchatka stores requires a significant investment of resources and is often costly for suppliers and manufacturers. To compensate for this, the regional government has introduced subsidies that offset part of the cost of delivery, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kamchatka. The message states that the list of subsidized products will be expanded.
The program for subsidizing socially important products was launched in 2022 on behalf of the regional government in order to curb price increases, especially in the northern regions of Kamchatka, the agency said. Since then, the program has received a positive response from the public, and the government has been asked to expand the list of products and stores participating in the program. In 2023, the program will be expanded, according to the department.
For example, the list of subsidized products will include the products of the Pionerskaya poultry farm, the report noted. We are talking about a table chicken egg, which will now be sold in stores without surcharges. In addition, the issue of including some perishable products in the list is being addressed.
In 2022, agricultural production in the Kamchatka Territory increased by 8% compared to 2021, the regional Ministry of Agriculture noted earlier. The government is actively working to contain prices - for example, a bread price containment program was launched, under which bakeries received state support in exchange for agreeing not to raise bread prices above a certain level. Due to this, the prices for “social” bread in the region remained within 42 rubles per kilogram, the department reports.
