Agricultural enterprise "Altai meadows" is actively forming the uterine nucleus of cattle with a high genetic potential. In less than four years, the company has multiplied the number of cows and bulls. Today, 500 cows of the Galloway breed are kept at the livestock complex with an area of 4,000 hectares in the Soloneshensky district. The strategic direction of "Altai meadows" is the production of eco-products of the highest class.

In addition to the Galloway breed of bulls, sheep breeding is being developed here, a turkey farm, a garden complex and a mushroom farm for the industrial cultivation of oyster mushrooms operate at the Siberian Compound. At the same facility, premises are being built for keeping Texas quails for MEAT and eggs.

This winter, the company launched a workshop for slaughtering livestock and poultry, and with it a trade and exhibition pavilion, where residents of the Altai Territory and neighboring regions buy wholesale and retail beef, turkey, lamb and horse meat.

Current work and plans

Today the enterprise is included in the register of breeding farms. Here they plan to develop the existing areas - to multiply the number of cattle, sheep, horses, birds.
Already in the summer, specialized parks will be created on the expanses of the farm for the maintenance of bulls and cows of the Galloway breed to improve the genetic fund. Already next year they hope to get their own offspring.

Taking into account international experience

Four lines of bulls, which are planned to be developed at the Altai Meadows enterprise, including the Scottish breed, were brought from Europe. All these lines develop in parallel.
At the beginning of last year, Alexander Potemkin, DIRECTOR of the agricultural enterprise "Altai meadows", visited Germany, where he got acquainted with the experience of foreign colleagues in agriculture.

“We do not intervene in the gene pool, but we are engaged in the promotion of the breed, creating the so-called uterine nucleus,” explains Alexander Anatolyevich. — We became interested in breeding the Galloway breed of bulls last year during a trip to Germany, where we visited three farms. In Baden-Baden, we saw amazing cattle - polled bulls of black and red colors, there are dark brown and grayish-yellow colors - all within the breed. Different colors are normally treated in Germany, unlike in RUSSIA. We have black bulls as the standard. I want to promote a red line in our country, I think they have the right to life and existence. After that trip, we decided that we would innovate in Galloway keeping.

In addition, the Altai Meadows plans to build their own slaughterhouse and a full-cycle meat processing plant. The foundation for them is already ready.
