In September, 775 samples were tested for ASF using the PCR method at the Primorsky International Air Line

In particular, in Primorye, 739 samples of biomaterial obtained from domestic pigs (blood serum, blood and pathological material), 24 samples of pig feed and four samples of biomaterial obtained from wild boars were examined.

According to the results of PCR studies, the genetic material of the African swine fever virus was found in eight samples of pathological material obtained from domestic pigs.

On Sakhalin, seven samples of pig blood and one sample of MEAT products were examined . According to the results of PCR studies, DNA of the African swine fever virus was not detected.

African swine fever is a transboundary disease that causes the death of millions of pigs and huge economic losses around the world.

The virus is resistant to physical and chemical factors and can be transmitted through slaughter products of sick pigs, contaminated feed, water, non-neutralized food and slaughterhouse waste, as well as contaminated bedding. Carriers can be blood-sucking insects, ticks, as well as service personnel. There is no vaccine against ASF , so control measures rely on detecting the infection (virus and/or specific antibodies) using laboratory methods, destroying all pigs in the ASF outbreak, disinfection and quarantine.
